I started this website to give access to people interested in getting information about our annual bicycle ride for Angela's House.
Angela's House helps technology dependant children in and around the Long Island area. These children have a multitude of different medical problems that simply can not be explained with one easy word. There are so many different ailments afflicting these children that the term technology dependant is the only way to explain it. What does this mean? It means that these children all need some type of medical technology to maintain life. Why should you care and why I do? Because these families should not have to go it alone. It is very difficult to function in what is considered a normal life style as it is, imagine if you have a technology dependant child. These families struggle day to day, week to week, month to month and year after year, mentally and financially. I started this fundraiser because I saw people in need and wanted to help.
My motivation originally came from the founder of Angela's House, Bob Policastros. Bob's own family was turned upside down when they lost their own child after only being in this world for one year. Her name of course was Angela. What a special little girl she was. She was of course special to Bob and his wife but she is now also special to me and many other families. If it were not for Angela I would not be involved in such a wonderful organization that touches so many. I would not have learned that helping others helps yourself. I started giving back when I started the Bike Ride for Angela's House in 2006 and it changed my life. Change yours too, give back. Donate money. If you can't afford to donate money you can donate your time, you have plenty of it.
As William James once quoted, "The great use for life is to spend it for something that will outlast it".
I hope this website will give you some insight on Angela's House and our annual bicycle ride. If you have a way that you think you can help please contact me.
A special thanks to my good friend and riding partner William Iaia III (Billy). Without the help of Billy, there would never have been "The Ride for Angela's House". Billy has been an inspiration to ride with and I look forward to many more years of being riding partners. Billy who just turned 50 years old has more motivation, will power and athletic ability than most people of any age I know. Thank you for continuing to be a part of this special event that continually pushes us to set out and break new goals year after year.
